Extraction of Bioactive Components from Leaf by Super Critical Fluid Extraction

The search and extraction of bioactive compounds from natural sources is largely motivated by their significant applications across various commercial sectors, including pharmaceuticals, food, and chemicals. This highlights the necessity for developing suitable and standardized method to extract the maximum amount of these active components from plant materials. An ideal extraction method should be sustainable, nontoxic, and less time consuming and should ensure quantitative as well as qualitative recovery and easy separation of extracts from the solvent. Therefore, advancement and application of alternative green technologies substituting traditional methods are crucial. Supercritical fluid technology for bioactive compound extraction is one such sustainable method addressing the limitations associated with conventional extraction methods. The advantages it offers include reduced solvent consumption and substitution of lethal chemicals with safer options while improving the yield and extract quality.
