Determination of the Antihyperglycemic Potential of Plant Leaf
摘要
Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by persistent hyperglycemia. Plant leaves have long been used in traditional medicine to treat diabetes mellitus, prompting research into their ability to decrease blood sugar levels. Antihyperglycemic potential of plant leaf extracts is assessed by targeting carbohydrate breakdown enzymes (α-amylase and α-glucosidase). Plant leaves, which are high in phytochemicals such as alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, and saponins, show promise regarding carbohydrate metabolism regulation, insulin sensitivity improvement, and postprandial glucose spike reduction.
