Bioactive (e.g., phenolics such as curcuminoids, flavonoids, carotenoids, vitamins, and volatiles) and volatile compounds (e.g., essential oils and aromatic compounds) are proven to demonstrate potential health benefits. These compounds have been widely used in chemicals, cosmetics, food, and pharmaceutical industries. Membrane technology has emerged as a potential alternative for separating and purifying components in various processing applications. Processing methods employing membranes, such as organic solvent nanofiltration (OSN) and liquid membranes (LM), have been widely investigated to recover high-value compounds from agro-food products and their by-products. This chapter presents protocols for the concentration of bioactives and volatiles, more specifically, by using organic solvent nanofiltration and liquid membranes.

摘要
