Analysis of Brown Algal Sugars Using Ion-Exchange High-Performance Liquid Chromatography
摘要
Several chromatographic methods have been developed for carbohydrate analysis. The difference in refractive index (RI) is often used for sugar detection due to the lack of chromophores or fluorophores in native sugars. This method uses anion-exchange chromatography and an RI detector to analyze sugars in brown algae. The identification and quantification of sugars in an unknown sample are possible due to the linear regression of sugar standards used to estimate the concentration of specific sugars. This method effectively separates and quantifies sugars in hydrolyzed brown algae samples. Regular calibration and maintenance are crucial for accurate results. The method gives a good estimation of the sugar composition and is reliable, provided that proper calibration and maintenance are performed.
