Classical Histological Procedures with Murine Tissues
摘要
Histology is a classic and widely used technique that allows the visualization of tissues under a microscope. It is a relatively cheap methodology that generates important visual results in the scientific field, such as the characterization of the parenchymal and stromal components of a biological sample and the morphological tissue damage induced by an insult (i.e., infection, surgery, mechanical stress). Despite these advantages, the classical histological procedures require a full-step guide in order to obtain standardized samples. Reaching high-quality slides deserves care from the sample collection to the confection of the slides. This chapter describes the detailed steps for obtaining histological slides from murine samples, including collection, fixation, processing, inclusion, and microtomy.
