Understanding the role of the human microbiome in health and disease is dependent upon acquiring high-quality DNA from host samples including feces, tissue biopsies, and mucosal swabs. DNA extraction methods need to be effective for downstream applications including metagenomic sequencing analysis. This chapter describes the best practice for DNA extraction for microbiome analysis of human fecal, oral, low vaginal, skin swabs, and colon biopsy samples, and quality control assessment using Nanodrop and Qubit technology.

摘要

Understanding the role of the human microbiome in health and disease is dependent upon acquiring high-quality DNA from host samples including feces, tissue biopsies, and mucosal swabs. DNA extraction methods need to be effective for downstream applications including metagenomic sequencing analysis. This chapter describes the best practice for DNA extraction for microbiome analysis of human fecal, oral, low vaginal, skin swabs, and colon biopsy samples, and quality control assessment using Nanodrop and Qubit technology.
