This chapter provides a synopsis of basic aspects of artificial intelligence (AI) that is affecting our daily life in many ways. AI is a broad field of computer science that tries to mimic the human brain in solving problems. To perform its task, it needs a lot of similar data to make prediction of an answer to a question. Databases are created with data collected from all sources using various search engines. Different algorithms of AI and their utilization, namely artificial neural network (ANN), machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), convolutional neural network CNN, generative adversarial network (GAN), and generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), are discussed. Chatbots like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, Microsoft’s Copilot, etc., are mentioned. Many terms used in AI are defined or explained. Benefits, adverse effects, and legal ramifications of AI are presented.
