This chapter describes the basic structure of matter consisting of atoms that contains a nucleus containing protons and neutrons, around which negatively charged electrons rotate to neutralize the positive charge of the nucleus. Also, different types of radiations and their properties are elaborated. Particulate and electromagnetic radiations are discussed. Electronic and nuclear structure are explained along with nomenclatures of different entities. A section of the nuclear chart is presented.
