In industrial processes using Komagataella phaffii, the most commonly used technology in the downstream processes to clarify the culture broths is continuous centrifugation. However, currently, tangential flow filtration (TFF) is considered an interesting scalable strategy to clarify broths from microbial fermentation processes at high cell concentrations. TFF presents numerous advantages over centrifugation depending on the bioprocess workflow, scale, and nature of the final products. In this chapter, we describe the methodology to achieve biomass clarification by microfiltration of K. phaffii fermentation broth using ceramic membranes.

摘要

In industrial processes using Komagataella phaffii, the most commonly used technology in the downstream processes to clarify the culture broths is continuous centrifugation. However, currently, tangential flow filtration (TFF) is considered an interesting scalable strategy to clarify broths from microbial fermentation processes at high cell concentrations. TFF presents numerous advantages over centrifugation depending on the bioprocess workflow, scale, and nature of the final products. In this chapter, we describe the methodology to achieve biomass clarification by microfiltration of K. phaffii fermentation broth using ceramic membranes.
