A Novel Approach Using SSR Markers for Identifying and Breeding Bruchid Pest-Resistant Blackgram (Vigna mungo L. Hepper) Genotypes
摘要
Molecular and biochemical techniques are beneficial in generating markers to investigate interesting genes in populations. SSRs, as genetic markers, provide significant advantages over traditional techniques of breeding and identifying essential traits. Under storage circumstances, the bruchid beetle Callosobruchus sp. can cause significant yield loss in blackgram. Hence, the identification of bruchid-resistant lines and breeding for resistance are important in blackgram. In this paper, the screening technique useful for the bruchid resistance breeding program and the use of SSR markers in identifying resistance are presented.
