Homalomena rubescens, an important ornamental and ethnomedicinal species in the Araceae family, plays a key role in the cultural and medicinal practices of Southeast Asia. Cryopreservation offers a promising solution for preserving the genetic material of H. rubescens through the storage of its pollen. This study focuses on the cryopreservation of H. rubescens pollen using liquid nitrogen, aiming to maintain its viability and genetic diversity. The pollen was collected, dehydrated, and stored in cryovials for long-term preservation, with subsequent viability assessments conducted post-thawing. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of cryopreservation in preserving the genetic integrity of H. rubescens, with high pollen viability observed after thawing. The successful implementation of pollen cryopreservation provides a valuable tool for the conservation of this species, ensuring the preservation of its genetic resources for future research, breeding, and horticultural applications.
