Enzyme immunoassays (EIAs) to detect and quantify RSV IgG antibodies and RSV IgA antibodies in human plasma or sera are described. The first IgG EIA described uses RSV lysate antigens produced in the HEp-2 cell line to detect and quantify RSV IgG antibodies. The second IgG EIA uses the RSV F ectodomain secreted into the serum-free media of the 293-F expressing cell line for detecting antibodies against the RSV F protein. The third and fourth IgG EIAs use the media from 293-F cells expressing the ectodomain of RSV subgroup A G protein or subgroup B G protein to detect and quantify IgG antibodies in patient sera. The IgA EIA uses either the lysate antigens or the affinity-purified RSV F/G protein ectodomains expressed in 293-F cells, in serum-free media, for antibody detection. These EIAs have been characterized and evaluated for their ability to detect the respective RSV antibodies.

摘要
