Hydration of proliposomes presents a cost-effective method for liposome production, offering enhanced scalability and formation of stable vesicles. By using this technique, we can efficiently produce up to 4 g of proliposomes, enabling the production of 100 mL of a liposome dispersion that remains stable for over 14 days. Additionally, this approach affords flexibility, allowing for the formulation of liposomes in either solid or liquid form tailored to specific applications. Here, we demonstrate the encapsulation of two hydrophobic bioactives, curcumin and cholecalciferol, underscoring the efficacy and versatility of proliposome hydration in liposomal delivery systems for food applications.
