Mechanical Inoculation of Plant Viruses
摘要
The technique mechanical inoculation of viruses to plants plays a crucial role in understanding how plant viruses spread and how they can be controlled. It involves grinding up infected plant material and then physically applying it to the healthy plant. Mechanical inoculation is an in vitro method of virus transmission used for a variety of assays such as to produce local lesions, propagation of viruses, assay for infectivity, in host range study, and properties of the virus. Transmission of virus through this helps scientists to study the progression of the infection and develop strategies for disease management. The different steps and requirements for the mechanical inoculation are described.
