Gram-positive bacterium is a foodborne pathogen, causing a variety of infections and diseases in humans and other organisms. Dielectrophoresis offers an alternate solution to traditional methods for classifying and removing bacteria in a selective, rapid, and reversible manner. This experiment has been designed for the removal of foodborne Gram-positive bacteria using a dielectrophoretic [DEP] filter with variable voltage and signal frequency. Here we describe experiments using food samples that are artificially contaminated samples by Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Bacillus subtilis.
