To isolate toxin-producing Gram-positive bacteria from food sample, one may enrich the food sample in liquid medium containing potassium tellurite, sodium azide, or thallium acetate (at concentrations of 0.1–0.5 g/L) for minimum 48 to 72 h. After incubation, isolate the bacteria on selective media for targeted Gram-positive bacterial genus.
