Athletes require a meticulously planned dietary strategy that addresses several key aspects of their performance and well-being. This approach not only ensures that their daily energy requirements are met before engaging in sports activities but also provides the necessary nutritional support to handle the rigorous conditions encountered during training. Furthermore, a well-structured nutrition program is crucial for effective recovery after training sessions. This study investigates the impact of various dietary patterns on athletic performance, focusing on endurance, strength, and recovery across different sports activities. A cross-sectional analysis of 150 athletes from endurance, strength, and mixed sports was conducted, utilizing a 7-day dietary recall and sport-specific performance tests. Dietary intake was categorized into high-carbohydrate diets (HCD), high-protein diets (HPD), and balanced diets (BD). Athletic performance was assessed through endurance trials, one-repetition maximum (1RM) strength tests, and recovery measures, including heart rate recovery (HRR), and muscle soreness. Results indicated that HCD improved endurance performance, HPD enhanced strength, and BD facilitated the best recovery outcomes. The study highlights the importance of tailored nutrition strategies for athletes based on their specific sport for optimizing sport-specific performance outcomes.
