Tooth Development

  • Sibel Yildirim

摘要

This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of tooth development, emphasizing its similarities to other ectodermal organs. The molecular underpinnings of tooth formation, including epithelial-mesenchymal interactions, are explored. Recent advancements in single-cell RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptome analysis have unveiled the complex cellular landscape of early human tooth development. The chapter delineates the distinct stages of tooth development (initiation, bud, cap, and bell stages), focusing on odontoblast differentiation and the role of Höhl cells. Cellular dynamics within the dental mesenchyme are characterized, laying the groundwork for understanding potential applications in bioengineered tooth development. By elucidating the intricate processes of tooth formation, this chapter contributes to the knowledge base for future dental regenerative therapies.
