Investigation of Muscarinic Receptors by Fluorescent Techniques

In the last decade or so, fluorescent techniques have markedly improved our ability to investigate the localization of proteins within the cell and to measure the kinetics of protein-protein interactions. In this chapter, we will discuss how these techniques have been applied to the muscarinic acetylcholine receptor field, with a focus on measuring Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) by time-resolved sensitized emission.
