Abundance Calculation of Flagellates from Soil
摘要
Flagellates are the most common protists found in the soil. Direct microscopic observation using small amount of soil might not give proper approximation of the actual number of protists. Hence ring culture method proposed by Singh et al. was a widely used method earlier for the same purpose. Nowadays modification of the same ring method that is microtiter plate technique is used for the calculation of the flagellates based on the principles of most probable number (MPN).
