Abundance Calculation of Ciliates from Soil

As ciliates cannot directly be extracted from the soil, abundance of ciliates requires culturing them followed by enumeration by variety of methods. Here in this chapter, most commonly used culture methods which can differentially count between active and cystic forms of ciliates are mentioned. The proposed methods are easy to perform and less time-consuming.
