Isolation and Cultivation of Euglena
摘要
Euglena genus are unicellular eukaryotic flagellates having more than 50 genera and 800 species. They are recorded resistant for various climate changes such as dryness and high temperature due to potential of forming resistant structure “cyst” specifically known as palmella. Euglena sp. has tremendous importance in nutrition as rich source of protein, vitamins A, E, and C, polysaturated fatty acid and in biomedicine due to its immune-stimulatory and antioxidant potential. The present protocol will explain the selective enrichment, isolation, and maintenance of Euglena from water sample.
