摘要

Paramecium is the microscopic, unicellular eukaryotic biological indicator organism explored for the study of freshwater ecotoxicity and various applications in waste management. Paramecium sp. is a heterotrophic organism of holozoic nutrition type. Various cultivation methods for Paramecia are reported such as use of bacteria (e.g., Klebsiella aerogenes) as food source and use of various other practicable and economically viable media like cereal medium, hay/grass infusion medium, lettuce medium, and soil extract media. The physicochemical factors such as pH, temperature, and oxygen play a critical role in growth of Paramecium sp. Present study describes the use of electric current-based migration of Paramecium for isolation from aquatic sample followed by microscopic observation using various stains.
