Axenic Cultivation of Soil Protists
摘要
Most of the physiological work on the protozoa has been restricted because the organism which need to be investigated cannot be raised in pure culture, i.e., without the presence of any other organisms. Due to difficulties in obtaining axenic cultures (pure culture), biochemical, genetic, physiological, and taxonomic studies have been limited. Axenic cultivation of soil protists is also required for accurate identification of the protozoan species. Protein-rich liquid media are generally used for cultivation of soil protists axenically.
