Immunomodulatory Activity of Postbiotics in Chicks
摘要
The emergence of poultry diseases has forced us to find an alternative to antibiotics because they have limitations. With the benefit of having no side effects, postbiotics are the best choice we have. Postbiotics have many advantages, such as anti-cancerous and anti-inflammatory activities, immunomodulatory activities, antioxidant properties, etc. Postbiotics are proven to stimulate the innate and adaptive immune system of the body. A common method of understanding the immune response of the body is by determining the concentration of immunoglobulins, otherwise called antibodies in the blood. The study is done by incorporating postbiotics in chicks and comparing it with the chicks fed with normal feed. Postbiotics are generally extracted from LAB in MRS broth. Other methods are also employed in which chicks are incubated with certain bacterial strains along with postbiotics. It results in a decreased colony count and mortality rate among the chicks when compared to the ones with which postbiotics are not administered.
