摘要

Postbiotic is the next milestone in the field of microbial biotherapy. Although the process of inflammation is a defense mechanism against infection, cell death, cancer, and degeneration, the inflammatory response could become detrimental when the regulatory mechanisms fail. The regulatory mechanism involves specific mediators that modulate the physiological process of inflammation. One such key mediator is NF-κB. Pathogenesis of certain prominent inflammatory diseases has identified NF-κB as an influential regulatory agent. The discovery of efficient drugs that could suppress the NF-κB activity to treat inflammatory response has been an ongoing challenge. Postbiotic substances have been shown to have immunomodulatory effects; they show promising anti-inflammatory activity that is yet to be explored to its complete potential. Hence, this chapter provides a detailed protocol for determining the anti-inflammatory activity of a postbiotic substance. This chapter specifically discusses the methodology to study the NF-κB suppressing potential of the postbiotic substance.
