摘要

The microbiome innovation has resulted in an umbrella term, postbiotics, which refers to nonviable microbial cells, metabolic by-products, and their microbial components released after lysis. Postbiotics modulate immune response, gene expression, inhibit pathogen binding, maintain intestinal barriers, help in controlling carcinogenesis and pathogen infections. The most used approach for extracting postbiotics from microorganisms is to isolate metabolites produced by microbes using heat, enzymes, ultrasonication, ultraviolet treatment, centrifugation, and ultrafiltration procedures. This chapter will discuss the main laboratory methods in postbiotic production process of Bacillus, with emphasis on their quality controls.
