Hinks, Arthur Robert
摘要
Arthur Hinks enjoyed the distinction of two separate careers: first as an astronomer until age 40, and subsequently as a geographer. He achieved international recognition for his diverse contributions to both disciplines. His astronomical specialty was photographic astrometry. He was awarded the Gold Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society for his accurate determination of the solar parallax based on his analysis of over 60,000 observations of the asteroid (433) Eros.
