Morgan, Herbert Rollo

With his talent for meticulously designed and executed observations, Herbert Rollo Morgan had a long and exceptionally productive career in astronomy, producing around 125 publications over 58 years, from observations of comets, moons, and asteroids to transit circle observations and studies of the instruments and constants employed to produce precise star catalogs. He attained the pinnacle of his career with the publication of his “N30” catalog, containing definitive positions and motions of 5268 stars for epoch 1950.0. That volume formed the basis of astronomical research for untold years.
