Douglas, Allie Vibert

Allie Vibert Douglas, early astrophysicist and historian of astronomy, was the first Canadian woman to earn a doctorate in astronomy. She was also the first woman elected president of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. The bulk of her career was spent at Queen’s University, where she was appointed Dean of Women and Professor of Astronomy. She was the recipient of three honorary degrees
