摘要

Albert Francis Arthur Lofley Jones was a New Zealand amateur astronomer who became by a considerable margin in 2011, the most prodigious visual observer of variable stars in the history of astronomy. In an observing career that spanned 68 years from 1943 to 2011, he made an estimated 515,000 visual observations (magnitude estimates) of variable stars.
