This chapter deals with vascular growth models. Some early models of the growth of tumours (with constant density) around vessels, also known as tumour cords, are presented. Then, other models developing in the multiphase framework discussed in Chapter 12 are discussed. The ability of cancer cells to switch from an aerobic to an anaerobic metabolism and the Warburg effect is also considered.

摘要

This chapter deals with vascular growth models. Some early models of the growth of tumours (with constant density) around vessels, also known as tumour cords, are presented. Then, other models developing in the multiphase framework discussed in Chapter 12 are discussed. The ability of cancer cells to switch from an aerobic to an anaerobic metabolism and the Warburg effect is also considered.
