This chapter explains how tumours can be described as solid materials. Considering growth and the continuous reorganisation of cells and of the surrounding environment, an elasto-visco-plastic approach is more realistic. In order to achieve this, the concept of evolving natural configuration is briefly described. A Maxwell-like model is deduced in the limit of small deformations with respect to the evolving natural configuration.

This chapter explains how tumours can be described as solid materials. Considering growth and the continuous reorganisation of cells and of the surrounding environment, an elasto-visco-plastic approach is more realistic.
