ECM-Related Physical Limits of Invasion
摘要
This chapter focusses on the physical limit of migration represented by extracellular matrix structures characterized by pores that are so small that tumour cells have difficulties in penetrating them. A criterion of penetration and invasion is determined using a mechanics-based model. The information obtained at the cellular level is then transferred to a macroscopic model in order to describe the effect of the presence of basal membranes, compartmentalising or allowing the passage of metastatic cells.
