This chapter focuses on models dealing with angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels from a pre-existing vasculature, one of the hallmarks of cancer and one of the most important steps in solid tumour development. Early models allowing some mathematical analysis are discussed. Then, the chapter presents some more realistic and therefore complex models, both at a continuous and a discrete level, drawing a link between the two approaches.

摘要

This chapter focuses on models dealing with angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels from a pre-existing vasculature, one of the hallmarks of cancer and one of the most important steps in solid tumour development. Early models allowing some mathematical analysis are discussed. Then, the chapter presents some more realistic and therefore complex models, both at a continuous and a discrete level, drawing a link between the two approaches.
