Arylation of Heterocycles Enabled by Photocatalysis
摘要
Arylated heterocycles are cornerstone structures in a wide array of chemical sciences, serving as critical components for numerous applications thanks to their unique structural qualities. The synthesis of these complex molecules represents a key endeavor in contemporary organic chemistry. The rise of photocatalysis marks a significant shift in the arylation techniques of heterocycles, positioning itself as an attractive alternative to the traditional transition metal-catalyzed cross-coupling methods. This modern tactic has spawned a plethora of protocols noted for their wide-ranging compatibility with different functional groups, their adaptability, and their ease of use. In this chapter, we aim to update readers on the cutting-edge progress in this rapidly advancing field, methodically categorized by the various aryl radical precursors employed. We will shine a light on breakthrough visible light-driven arylation methods, underscoring critical progressions in this research area. The discussion will explore the breadth and limitations of these processes, prioritizing a deeper understanding of the mechanisms that facilitate aryl radical creation.
