Endogenously produced gaseous signaling molecules such as nitric oxide (NO), carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), and sulfur dioxide (SO2) play important roles in pathophysiological processes. They have also been shown to exhibit significant therapeutic potential. However, their delivery is challenge due to their gaseous nature. In this chapter, we focus on innovative delivery methods using click chemistry. The chapter is organized according to different signaling gases; and we conclude by summarizing the current challenges and future perspectives in this field.

摘要

Endogenously produced gaseous signaling molecules such as nitric oxide (NO), carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), and sulfur dioxide (SO2) play important roles in pathophysiological processes. They have also been shown to exhibit significant therapeutic potential. However, their delivery is challenge due to their gaseous nature. In this chapter, we focus on innovative delivery methods using click chemistry. The chapter is organized according to different signaling gases; and we conclude by summarizing the current challenges and future perspectives in this field.
