The escalating threat of air pollution to human health and the environment has catalyzed a pressing need for innovative solutions to mitigate its adverse effects. This chapter aims to highlight the latest advancements in emerging technologies aimed at achieving cleaner futures by effectively mitigating air pollution. Drawing upon multidisciplinary research and practical applications, the chapter delves into various innovations and their potential to revolutionize air pollution mitigation strategies. The chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of air pollution, which underscores the urgency of adopting sustainable and effective measures to address this multifaceted challenge. Some innovative clean air emerging technologies that hold promise in mitigating air pollution includes those related to renewable energy, transportation, industrial processes, and urban planning. For instance, advancements in renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power offer cleaner alternatives to fossil fuels and contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Also, the roles of electric vehicles and other low-emission transportation technologies in curbing air pollution from vehicular emissions are discussed as well as the potential roles of smart transportation systems and urban mobility solutions to optimize traffic flow and minimize pollutant emissions in densely populated areas. Other innovations highlighted include novel approaches to industrial processes, such as carbon capture and utilization technologies, which capture carbon dioxide emissions from industrial sources and convert them into valuable products and the application of green chemistry principles in manufacturing processes to minimize pollution and enhance resource efficiency. Robust air quality monitoring and pollution control measures using advanced sensor technologies and data analytics for real-time monitoring of air quality parameters will enable proactive interventions to mitigate pollution hotspots and safeguarding public health. In conclusion, the chapter emphasizes the transformative potential of emerging technologies in advancing air pollution mitigation efforts and fostering cleaner, healthier environments for future generations.
