Geriatric patients can present with complex nutritional challenges due to multiple causes such as swallowing difficulties, impaired gastrointestinal function, reduced appetite, and catabolic state, which can lead to malnutrition and overall deterioration of the health. Interventional radiology can address this issue by optimizing enteral or oral intake through enteral feeding tubes, percutaneous gastrostomy or gastrojejenostomies, and radiological insertion of esophageal or duodenal stents. Interventional radiologists can also help with insertion of central venous lines which can aid parenteral nutrition.
