Femoroacetabular Impingement

Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) is characterized by abnormal contact between the femoral head and acetabulum. It is a common and treatable cause of hip pain and restricted range of motion in young and middle-aged adults. Left untreated, FAI can lead to complications such as labral tears, cartilage damage, and early development of secondary osteoarthritis. This chapter covers the etiology, epidemiology, clinical detection, anatomical changes, preoperative imaging findings, treatment options, and postoperative imaging findings associated with FAI.
