Skin cancer can greatly impact the quality of life, and its global prevalence continues to rise. Emerging research underscores the pivotal role of skin microbial dysbiosis in fostering chronic inflammation, immune evasion, and skin cancer initiation. Under typical circumstances, certain bacteria, such as Staphylococcus epidermidis, are predominant in the skin microbiota. On the other hand, specific bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus are seldom encountered on the epidermis of individuals in good health. Any imbalance between beneficial and harmful bacteria can potentially lead to the onset of various skin or systemic diseases, including cancers. Cutaneous lymphoma, a type of skin cancer, is categorized into cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) and cutaneous B-cell lymphoma (CBCL). Growing evidence suggests that alterations in the skin microbiome may influence the development or progression of cutaneous lymphomas. This chapter provides a comprehensive review of current findings and suggested pathophysiological mechanisms through which the skin microbiome correlates with cutaneous lymphomas.
