Approaches to Breast Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy

摘要

Breast cancer is a common disease affecting women globally. There is growing interest in using the body’s immune system to fight breast cancer due to the limitations and side effects of conventional treatments, such as chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation therapy. Abnormal or malignant cells are quickly identified and destroyed by the immune system. However, cancer cells can hide from the immune system and avoid being attacked. Immunotherapy appears to be a promising treatment option. This treatment boosts the body’s immunological response to fight cancer cells. CAR-T cell (chimeric antigen receptor T cell) therapy and other checkpoint inhibitors may be used. Vaccines against cancer can potentially unleash the body’s defenses against breast cancer. Research is ongoing on the role of the microbiome in breast cancer and the immune response. The composition of the microbiome can influence immune function and cancer development. Scientists are interested in understanding how the microbiome, immune system, and breast cancer cells interact in order to develop new prevention and therapeutic strategies for the disease. Utilizing the immune system to fight breast cancer is a promising new research area with numerous potential benefits.
