The Multidisciplinary Management of Lung Cancer in the European Community

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, and its incidence continues to rise. In the European Community, lung cancer accounted for approximately 13.4% of all new cancer cases in 2020. The interdisciplinary management of lung cancer involves a team of specialists from different fields working together to provide comprehensive care that addresses the different aspects of the disease. The European Respiratory Society, the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and the European Society for Medical Oncology have established guidelines for the diagnosis and staging of lung cancer. These guidelines recommend a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosing and staging lung cancer, involving every team member.
