摘要

Lung cancer is the most common cancer and the leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Smoking is the number one risk factor for lung cancer, and other risk factors, including poor diet, genetic susceptibility, air pollution, and occupational exposure, also play an important role. There are several methods for lung cancer screening, such as chest radiography, cytological analysis of sputum, and annual low-dose computed tomography (LDCT). In addition, several molecular biomarkers are being studied to help detect patients with lung cancer at early stages. Physicians use various diagnostic and staging modalities, and chemotherapy is still the cornerstone of treatment, but several other treatment modalities have shown promising results and are hoped to improve the survival of the patients. This chapter provides an overview of epidemiology, screening, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and classification of lung cancer. Also, this chapter focuses on current lung cancer treatment with an interdisciplinary perspective.
