Infiltrating Immune Cells in Prostate Cancer and Their Implication in Prostate Cancer Therapy

As modern medicine and technology continue to progress, so does the population of the elderly. Unfortunately, this means that certain diseases will become more and more prevalent within the population, including prostate cancer in men. Not only is prostate cancer the most common form of cancer in older men, but it is also the second leading cause of cancer death among men. This has led to a plethora of studies investigating the cause of prostate cancer and how to develop therapies that focus on eliminating the cancerous cells. In this review, we focus on recent studies that have analyzed the effects that various immune cells have on the initiation, dissemination, and progression of prostate tumor as well as exploitation of these cells for therapeutic possibilities.
