Article 147 [High Level of Employment]

While Article 146 TFEU defines the role of MS in reaching employment objectives, Article 147 TFEU provides the general role of the Union in this respect. Article 147.1 TFEU proposes a high level of employment with the contribution of the Union; it has a supporting role, which cannot jeopardise the primary role of MS. Indeed, the EU would contribute to a high level of employment by encouraging cooperation between MS and by supporting and, if necessary, complementing their action. The concrete way in which the role of the Union can be fulfilled is to be detailed in the subsequent articles.
