摘要

Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr) is a major oilseed crop globally with major production in the USA, Brazil, Argentina, China, and India. Significant progress has been made in soybean research for increasing yield and in the improvement of other agronomic and physiological traits. During the last three decades, there has been tremendous progress in soybean genetics and genomics research. Population genomics studies can assist understanding genetic diversity, population structure, evolution, and domestication and facilitating genomics-assisted breeding of soybean. In this chapter, we discuss recent progress made in population genomics to assess genetic diversity, population structure, and evolution of cultivated and wild species of soybean; develop pan-genomes; and identify genes and genomic regions under selection from domestication. We also review the application of population genomics for assisting soybean breeding via genome-wide association and genomic selection studies and highlight recent studies that illustrate a range of discoveries enabled by sequencing of populations of soybean genomes. We also present the genome, transcriptome, epigenome, genetic maps, and plant resources available for population genomics studies in soybean.
