Studies of Asymmetric Thermal Deformation of the VLBI Telescope
摘要
In this work, the influence of thermal deformation on the VGOS telescope at Metsähovi Geodetic Research Station (MGRS) was investigated using automatic robot tachymeter measurements. Thermal deformations of the radio telescope affect its reference point, which must be corrected during the analysis of VLBI sessions. The most common model applied in the analysis assumes a linear and symmetric expansion of the telescope, which does not account for the asymmetric solar heating of the steel pedestal of the telescope during the day. The measurements were conducted in the spring of 2022 and 2023, on sunny days with temperature variation from \(2\,^{\circ }\mathrm {C}\) to \(20\,^{\circ }\mathrm {C}\) . To analyse the thermal deformation, we applied a linear model and calculated the position of the prisms located on the dish as a function of temperature conditions. The model results were compared to the measurements made with the tachymeter.
