Handbook of Metal-Organic Frameworks

In this handbook, core concepts of Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and the history of this field are presented. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) refer to types of crystalline porous materials coordinated from metal nodes and organic linkers, which are continuously contributing to the fields of chemistry/materials sciences and linking various related disciplines. Their abundant design concepts, synthetic strategies and characterization techniques are introduced accompanied with some representative MOFs. Discussions on the practical applications of MOFs are highlighted, including gas adsorption/separation, sensing/detection, heterogeneous catalysis, photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, medical treatment, solutions to environmental/energy issues and other emerging fields. Owing to their highly predictable and designable porous structures with long-range order, MOFs are recognized as the ideal platform for developing novel functional materials as well as investigating structural-property relationships. Research on MOFs with excellent physical/chemical properties has attracted increasing attention with significant efforts devoted to this field over the past two decades. This book therefore addresses the need to systematically organize and summarize the available knowledge on MOFs for the purpose of satisfying curiosity and also offering strong references to all audiences, especially young scientists looking to expand their careers.
