Introduction to Probability

  • Trefor Bazett

摘要

This video course is an introduction to probabilistic thinking. Viewers will be empowered with the core concepts and tools in probability theory. They will learn how to apply these tools to a wide range of applications in their own fields and in their lives.

We will begin by establishing foundational concepts in probability and counting such as sample spaces, independent events, and tree diagrams. From this base we will develop a series of more advanced tools such as the Summation Rule, Permutations, and Combinations, finally closing by introducing the ideas behind Markov Chains.

The potential audience is broad, as probabilistic methods are important to a wide range of fields in STEM and far beyond. It will be delivered requiring only minimal mathematical prerequisites and thus accessibly by undergraduate students but would be a topic of interest to many graduate students or professionals who have not had extensive training in probability and statistics.
